New acquisition brings The Other Side of The World closer for Tinder Press
March 6, 2015
Tinder Press has acquired Australian author Stephanie Bishop’s UK debut, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD. The novel tells the story of a fractured marriage, and of a woman torn between two very different worlds when her family relocates from England to Australia in the 1960s. Tinder Press Publisher Mary-Anne Harrington said ‘This book crackles with a really special energy from the opening page. It brings the Cambridge fens and sweltering Perth to hugely vivid life, and is one of the bravest and most tender books about parenthood and marriage that I have come across. It is generating the most extraordinary excitement at Tinder Press and Hachette Australia, and our ambition with this novel is to really put Stephanie Bishop on the map as a major international literary talent.’
Stephanie Bishop was named as one of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Best Young Australian Novelists for her first novel, The Singing, and has been shortlisted for numerous Australian literary awards. She studied at Cambridge where much of the novel is set, and now teaches creative writing at the University of New South Wales. Tinder Press will publish THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD in hardback in August 2015 (Hachette Australia will publish in July 2015). Harrington bought British Commonwealth rights ex ANZ from Airlie Lawson at Hachette Australia.
